Points to consider
when Starting
You
can hire a Harp -
In fact most people hire a harp to begin with.
In the early stages of the discovery of this fascinating instrument, the
hire option provides an excellent opportunity to gauge which
harp will suit you best - and with Pilgrim Harps, you get your first 3 months hire charges back
when you buy a new Pilgrim Harp from us.
Or
buy -
Our harps hold their value extremely well, so if you did ever wish to
part-exchange or sell, you should always get a very good price.
All our harps are hand made in our own workshops and come with a full structural and mechanical guarantee.
So
which harp will I need?
This will eventually depend on the type of music you wish to play but we
recommend that you avoid very lightly strung harps, especially those
with nylon strings or narrow spacing. A 34 string Clarsach,
Ashdown or Skylark
are however, ideal. These instruments encourage good technique and are
exceptional quality Celtic Harps in their own right. These harps are
also the perfect base for exploring the various branches of the harp
world including Pedal Harps.
Why
choose a Pilgrim Harp?
We are a long established
company, organised and run by the craftsmen so you buy directly from the
maker. Each harp is a finely balanced, hand-made instrument, crafted
from the very finest materials to designs refined over many years. We
are fortunate to work in a beautiful, rural setting in southern England.
Part of our ethos is the workshop setting, working in the main from
traditional methods.
No longer is it a requirement to find a large fortune to realise a
harpist's ambition. An impressive network of teachers has emerged over
the years and by means of rental, part-payment or part-exchange schemes,
Getting
started has never been so easy!
